National Cancer Information System
NCIS caters for recording the multi-disciplinary diagnosis and treatment decision process in addition to the complex chemotherapy prescribing, preparation and administration processes. NCIS has been driven by the National Cancer Control Programme and has resulted from collaboration with the system suppliers, oncology medical, nursing and administration stakeholders.
The NCIS rollout programme includes 26 voluntary and statutory hospitals providing Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT). To date 9 hospitals are currently using NCIS and many other site installation projects are underway.
Site installation projects are managed by HSE NCCP and eHealth and Disruptive Technologies in association with a hospital appointed project team.
The NCIS Integration Team have delivered a cross referencing solution which allows the NCIS record to be linked with the respective hospital identifier to facilitate care across hospitals.
NCIS comprises BD Cato® an integrated software solution for chemotherapy, Celsius37.com TumorBoard and CancerCenter applications and Orchestra communications service.
