Find out all about the digital transformation of cancer records through the implementation of the National Cancer Information System (NCIS). Previously reliant on paper-based workflows, cancer services faced challenges such as fragmented records, limited visibility, and the associated risks.
NCIS addresses these by providing a national digital platform that supports Systemic Anticancer Treatment (SACT) across the 26 public hospitals delivering anti-cancer treatment nationally. NCIS enables real-time data capture, barcode medication administration, and standardised treatment protocols, improving safety, efficiency, and collaboration. It supports multidisciplinary decision-making, enhances operational workflows, and provides a longitudinal, patient-centred care record accessible nationwide.
The system also unlocks valuable clinical data for planning, forecasting, and research, aligning with Ireland’s Digital for Care 2030 strategy and laying the foundation for future digital transformations.
Helene Troissant, a new mother, talks about how the HSE Health App helped her during and after her pregnancy, and why she would encourage others to use it.
This project makes it easier for people to request their home test kit when they’re invited to take part for the first time.
Now, participants can request their kit online as well as by phone or email. They can also use the BowelScreen register to check when their next test is due and update their contact details quickly and easily.
See how the MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) between the HSE and HealthTech Ireland has evolved into the creation of the National Health Collaboration Council to enable collaborative leadership and governance that drives innovation, enhances patient outcomes, and supports the successful implementation of national health policies.
