Meet the Team

Sean MacGabhann

Sean MacGabhann Photohello my name isSean MacGabhann

I am a member of the Network team based in Dublin for the past 15 years acting as the Senior Project Manager team member. I have been a member of the NIMIS Project/Procurement team since the beginning of the Project back in 2009. My main role during the procurement was to inform/educate McKesson of our National infrastructure which included the emerging National Health Network and our agreed National IP addressing scheme so that they could plan the rollout of the solution from a National and informed perspective. This in turn allowed us to build a team with the McKesson technical staff to ensure clear and concise planning, implementation and operational processes for the successful rollout of NIMIS. This relationship continues to this day in the background and is based on mutual respect and trust.

I am a member of the National Network Operations team which is part of the Infrastructure and Technology group. We manage the planning and provisioning and management of NHN connectivity and with our colleagues in Server Management we manage the National Data Centre including the National DMZ and the Firewall infrastructure. I am also a member of the former HSE East Network team where we manage the planning, installation and operational support for over 500 Local Area Networks, their attendant Voice solutions, the delivery of Wi-Fi backend management infrastructure and local wi-fi site solutions. We work closely with our colleagues in both Estates and the CHO community to ensure the smooth planning and implementation of all new building ICT infrastructure.

I have worked in ICT for the past 37 years and I previously worked with the Revenue Commissioners in a large variety of technical roles including Computer Operations Management, Mainframe System Software Programming and Management, Cobol Programming, Systems Analysis, Data Centre Management, Network Infrastructure Delivery Management and Office Systems Solutions delivery.

At home my wife Helen and I have four adult sons. My main interests are sporting and I am actively involved in MU Barnhall RFC and the GAA in both Dublin and Cavan. My other great interest is the Arts especially live music of any kind and I am an avid reader and regular theatre goer. My passions though are my family, close friends, good beer and wine and Notts County FC!
