Peter Connolly

Peter Connolly is head of Enterprise Architecture & the Design Authority.  The purpose of the Design Authority is to provide business focus and technology direction and assurance on our ICT technologies and platforms.  Enterprise Architecture is responsible for supporting the strategic development of technical architecture, technology and operational capabilities in a standardised and aligned manner.    

Previously, as project lead and chief architect for the HSE’s National E-Health Integrated Services Framework Project, Peter has driven the ICT interoperability agenda at the HSE.  This covered the standards based technical, business, and information aspects of the HSE’s ICT integrated services and systems architecture.

Peter has over 20 years experience in ICT spanning both the public and private sector.  He has spent the past 13 years in healthcare, including the roles of General Manager and IT Operations at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin Ireland. Prior to this his roles included senior management and technical positions with blue chip companies including AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Fore Systems and Marconi. His special areas of interest include business re-engineering and technology strategy, and he has lectured on both topics at university level.  

Peter holds a degree in Electronic Engineering and an MBA in Information Technology Management from the City University Business School, London.
